Fine stripes run down the shirts of two figures standing close together. One wears a broad olive hat; the other wears pink. Their shoulders touch beneath the wide brims, with loose cream marks breaking up the green background.
The narrow lines give this pair a different rhythm from a traditional portrait. Its wide shape makes a natural focal point over a couch, with the green and pink picking up colors elsewhere in the room.
